Ridge School Hosts Enriching Two-Day Scouts and Guides Training

“Ridge School Hosts Enriching Two-Day Scouts and Guides Training”

We have hosted a transformative two-day Scouts and Guides training program for its students, aimed at boosting self-esteem and confidence among its students. In partnership with Universal Scouts and Guides, Delhi, and affiliated with the World Federation of Independent Scouts, Germany, the event was organized under the expert guidance of Ms. Bindiya Tyagi, National Training Commissioner, and her dedicated team.

Students from Grades 1 to 8, engaged in Life skills training that went beyond the classroom. The program focused on team building, outdoor adventures, and the importance of education while exploring the world outside traditional learning environment. Through these activities, the students discovered the value of universal brotherhood, compassion, and benevolence.

On the first day, students participated in a variety of warm-up and team-building exercises. The Scarf Ceremony fostered mutual respect and patriotic fervor through flag hoisting and national songs, reinforcing loyalty to the country. A standout activity was the “Human Stretchers,” where students learned how to carry an injured person in a group formation, showcasing their teamwork and emergency response skills.

Day two was filled with memorable experiences, with Tent Pitching being a highlight. Students grasped the importance of shelter and protection, symbolizing resilience. The activities also taught them to stay calm under stress, appreciate camping under the sky, and embrace a close connection with nature. The training instilled in the students the ability to help themselves and others in need.

In closing, as Baden Powell, the visionary founder of the Scouts movement, once said, “We must change boys from a ‘what can I get’ to a ‘what can I give’ attitude.” Ridge School’s Scouts and Guides program undoubtedly achieved this, shaping young minds to be both self-reliant and compassionate.
